A new 9-foot-tall New York Life sign will be installed beginning Tuesday on top of the 125 N. Market building in downtown Wichita, according to a news release.

The channel-cut sign will measure 106 feet across and will sit on the roof of the 19-story building, of which New York Life insurance is a tenant. Utah-based Security National Life Insurance Co. will continue to own the building, said company spokesman Bryce Baker in the release.

“We hope the ‘New York Life Building’ will become the common name when referring to this place,” Baker said in the release. “This is a landmark building in Wichita, and we’re excited it now bears the name of a company that has been part of Wichita’s downtown for more than 125 years.”

A tenant in the building since 2008, New York Life occupies the 16th floor of the dwelling. New York Life recently renewed its lease at 125 N. Market through 2021.
