Walmart: Average hourly wage for Kansas employees to top $13 by February

Walmart has announced that the average hourly wage for full-time employees in Kansas will be more than $13 by early next year, according to a news release.

As part of a $2.7 billion investment in its U.S. workforce spread out over two years, the retailer said it is raising wages and providing better training for employees. Walmart will invest close to $33.5 million in Kansas alone, which will result in 22,000 raises for employees in the state, according to the release.

By February, the average full-time wage for a Walmart employee in Kansas will be $13.02 per hour, while part-timers will receive $10.55 per hour on average, according to the release. In April, the retailer announced it would move its starting wage to at least $9 an hour.

In February 2016, Walmart will raise wages for associates hired before January 2016 to at least $10 per hour. Since the announced increase earlier this year, Walmart has reported increased “customer experience scores and associate engagement numbers,” according to the release.
