New owner, general manager ready to take over at KAKE-TV in late December
Lockwood Broadcast Group is set to take over ownership of Wichita’s KAKE-TV, Channel 10, from Gray Television at the end of the month.
Richmond, Va.-based Lockwood has named Neal Davis as general manager of the station, according to a company release on Tuesday.
Davis is currently general manager of Lockwood’s WBXX and WKNX broadcast stations in Knoxville, Tenn. He was also general manager at stations in Raleigh, N.C., and Peoria/Bloomington, Ill. He started in sales management
Gray Television is exchanging KAKE for WBXX plus $11.2 million in cash. Gray will remain as owner of KWCH-TV, Channel 12.
Gray had to sell KAKE because it bought Schurz Communications’ broadcast assets, which included KWCH, in September. Gray decided to keep KWCH, the stronger Wichita station, and divest itself of KAKE.
At the closing, KAKE’s current general manager, Brad Moses, will remain with Gray Television to help the new television stations integrate into the Gray corporate family.
