New hours

The Kansas Aviation Museum will be operating under new hours for the holiday season. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The holiday hours will be in effect until Jan. 4.

Anniversary

Criminal defense and appeals law firm Monnat & Spurrier Chartered will mark its 30th anniversary on Friday. Attorneys Dan Monnat and Stan Spurrier founded the firm in 1985.

Recognized

Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph is now a High 5 for Mom & Baby-recognized hospital, having integrated specific maternity-care procedures based on the proven health benefits associated with breastfeeding and other key elements of bonding between mother and newborn.

Union Pacific Railroad has earned the Military Friendly Employer designation from Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, ranking sixth among the top 100. The company was selected based on its military recruiting efforts, percentage of new hires with prior military service, veteran retention programs, and policies on National Guard and Reserve service.

Charity

Cargill is donating $120,000 to the Kansas Food Bank to help feed the needy, the Food Bank announced Tuesday. The company is also offering to match donations from other givers up to $60,000 to support the Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids backpack program, which provides weekend food in backpacks to children at hundreds of schools in Kansas, the Food Bank said.

Metcalf Ridge Golf Club in Louisburg, Anderson Industrial Engines in Omaha and Excel Industries in Hesston have donated $25,000 in equipment to Vatterott College-Wichita’s mechanic training program, and Vibralign, the U.S. distributor of Fixturlaser shaft alignment products, has donated an $8,000 Fixturlaser Go Wind to the college’s wind energy technician program.

The Kansas Health Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Newman University to support its science outreach programs in 2016.

Net-Ability has awarded Kidzcope a $10,000 grant to upgrade the organization’s technology.

Omni Business Center will serve as a collection point of donated coats and nonperishable canned food for InterFaith Ministries’ Operation Holiday through Dec. 16. Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, at Omni locations at 111 S. Whittier and 151 S. Whittier.
