There’s a sweet replacement at the former doughnut shop space at 401 E. Madison in Derby.
Amanda Little and Rebecca Toth are opening Silvery Coffee & Bakery there next month.
“We kind of put our heads together and had a similar dream,” said Little, who is perhaps better known as a Wichita police officer.
“I do enjoy my job very much,” Little said. However, she said, “I’ve always wanted to open up a coffee shop.”

Little grew up in the state of Washington.
“There’s tons of coffee shops there. It’s kind of my scene.”
Toth, who will be the one to run Silvery, said she hopes it will become everyone’s scene.
“Our goal is to have a quality meeting place,” she said. “Just a place for really everyone to come and hang out.”
Toth most recently ran RPT Cupcakes out of her home.
Silvery will have coffee, pastries, cupcakes, scones, muffins and bread.
“Our main thing will be cupcakes,” Toth said.
The shop, which will have about 25 seats in 1,280 square feet, will open sometime in January.
Toth said Derby needs more coffee shops, and she thinks people will respond to Silvery.
“We have such a passion for coffee shops,” she said. “It’s just kind of a culture.”
Toth said she and Little tossed around a lot of potential names and liked “Silvery” the best.
“We tell people we have a great story,” she said of the name. “We just haven’t come up with it yet.”
