Wichita area employers expect to hire at a strong pace in the first quarter of 2016, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

Manpower, a global staffing company, said 23 percent of local employers plan to hire, while just 2 percent said they expect to shrink payrolls. Most employers, 73 percent, expect to maintain current staff levels, while the rest weren’t sure.

That is a slight improvement over expectations for the present quarter and in the first quarter a year ago.

Job prospects are good in every sector except government, and a grab bag of miscellaneous jobs in the “other services” category is expected to remain unchanged.
