Kansans love going out to eat and drink, according to government numbers

Kansans spent $2,802 per person at restaurants and bars in 2014, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

That is 8.1 percent of the state residents’ per capita income, and more than Oklahomans, Nebraskans, Missourians, and residents of other nearby states. But Kansans are still well behind Vermonters, who spent more than $4,000 per person eating out, or more than 9 percent of all spending.

It’s part of recently released figures showing how Kansans spent their money in recent years.

According to the figures, Kansans spent $34,662 per person in 2014, up 3.6 percent from 2013. That ranks the state 31st in growth from 2013.
