Wichita-area unemployment drops to 4.3 percent in strong October jobs report
In one of the strongest jobs report in years, the October unemployment rate in the Wichita area fell to 4.3 percent and the number of people working was up, according to the Kansas Department of Labor.
The not-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down from 4.4 percent in September and 4.7 percent in October of 2014.
In the monthly survey of households, the number of people in the metro area who reported they were working was up nearly by 2,000 from a year ago, to about 297,500.
In the related monthly survey, employers reported the number of jobs was up by nearly 3,000 from a year ago, to nearly 299,000.
The not-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Kansas was 3.7 percent. Once seasonal factors are eliminated, the rate is 4.1 percent. Both rates are considered very strong.
