Per capita income in Wichita increases in 2014, but less than national figures
Personal income per capita in the Wichita metro area in 2014 was $45,297, an increase of $814 or 1.8 percent from 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
That was a lot better than the year before, when per capita income in the metro acre rose just $84 per person, or 0.2 percent.
But even with the acceleration Wichita metro was one of the worst performing metros in the nation last year. Nationally, per capita income grew 3.6 percent to $46,049.
Personal income includes all sources of people’s income, such as wages, benefits, rent, interest, dividends and government payments such as Medicare.
Kansas per capita personal income rose 1.3 percent in 2014, with nearly half of the state’s counties seeing drops in personal income because of sharp decreases in crop and oil prices.
