Meritrust CEO to lead campaign for Tour de Cure

Meritrust Credit Union President/CEO James Nastars was recently selected as campaign chairman for the 2016 Tour de Cure in Wichita, according to a news release.

The tour, a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association, is scheduled to take place April 30 at Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita. As campaign chairman, Nastars will lead fundraising efforts, with a goal of $400,000, according to the release.

“Meritrust’s mission is to improve the lives of our members and the communities we serve,” Nastars said in the release. “The funds raised by Tour de Cure provide programs, resources and research that are changing lives for the better every day. It’s an honor to partner with Spirit AeroSystems in supporting the American Diabetes Association.”

Approximately 272,300 people in Kansas have diabetes, according to the release.

Meritrust has 15 branches in the Wichita metro area, Junction City, Lawrence and Manhattan. The credit union has more than 75,000 members and $995 million in assets, the release said.

This year’s Tour de Cure raised $365,000 and brought 500 bicyclists, the release stated. For more information about the tour or to donate, visit www.diabetes.org/toursedgwickco.
