Derby Aldi store to hold grand opening next month

The grand opening for a new Aldi grocery store in Derby will take place Dec. 10, according to a news release.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place at the store, 1719 N. Rock Road, at 9 a.m., with the store opening its doors immediately following, the release said. The ribbon-cutting is not expected to take more than 10 minutes, an Aldi media representative said.

The first 100 shoppers at the store will receive a “golden ticket” containing Aldi gift certificates of various amounts. Customers will also be able to sample Aldi brand products and enter into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a one-year supply of produce, according to the release.

A discount grocery chain, Aldi operates more than 1,400 stores in 32 U.S. states, primarily from Kansas to the East Coast. Aldi has four stores in Wichita.
