Sunflower Bank raises over $30,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Sunflower Bank announced Tuesday that it has raised more than $30,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas Wichita chapter, according to a news release.

From July 1 through September, the bank donated 5 cents every time a Sunflower customer used their debit card for a transaction, said bank spokeswoman Christy Klein. In all, the bank raised $50,000 for the organization, with $32,329 being raised in Wichita for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters operation.

“We understand that reaching one child with a mentor can have a long-lasting and profound impact on that child, their family, and the community,” Randy Summers, senior vice president of Sunflower Bank in Wichita, said in a statement. “Teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters is part of a larger plan at Sunflower Bank to create possibility and make a difference in the lives of others and the communities we serve.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a youth mentoring program that matches volunteering adults with young people in need of another positive adult presence. Based in Salina, Sunflower is a community bank with $1.7 billion in assets and a presence in Kansas, Colorado and Missouri.
