Wichita area unemployment rate falls to 4.6 percent in October
The Wichita area unemployment dropped sharply to 4.6 percent in October from 5.2 percent in September, according to the Kansas Department of Labor.
The rate was down a full percentage point from October of 2013, when it was 5.6 percent.
The number of people working in the Wichita area in October has risen about 4,000 from October 2013. However, that’s still about 16,000 below the area’s 2008 peak. The number of people seeking work has fallen about 3,000 in the last year.
The state unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in October, down from 4.7 percent in September and 5.2 percent in October 2013.
