AT&T to expand Kansas broadband through federal program
AT&T said it plans to expand high-speed Internet access in rural Kansas over the next few years.
The telecommunications giant said in a news release that its broadband expansion will extend to rural homes and businesses in the state that don’t have access to such service.
It will expand by tapping into the Federal Communication Commission’s Connect America Fund, which AT&T said allows it to expand service in areas where it would otherwise be too costly for the company to expand.
“Over the next six years, we will accept nearly $19 million annually to expand high-speed Internet service to 35,000 rural Kansas homes and businesses currently without a competitive broadband provider,” AT&T Kansas president Mike Scott said in a news release.
