Wichita credit unions earn recognition
Two Wichita area credit unions were recognized recently for outstanding service, according to a news release.
Credit Union of America was the recipient of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, while TECU Credit Union earned the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award. Both awards are sponsored by the Kansas Credit Union Association and the Credit Union National Association.
The Maxwell Award recognizes a credit union for social responsibility and charitable projects that support its community. The Herring Award is given to an institution for practical application of credit union philosophy for internal programs and services that benefit membership. Both Maxwell and Herring were pioneers in the early advancement of credit unions, according to the release.
Credit Union of America has 11 locations in the greater Wichita area, while TECU has two locations in Wichita. The Kansas Credit Union Association is the trade association for credit unions in Kansas and serves more than 646,000 Kansas consumers.
