UMB Bank parent sees slight profit gain in the third quarter

The holding company of UMB Bank said its earnings increased more than 3 percent in the third quarter of 2014.

UMB Financial said its earnings for the quarter ended Sept. 30 were $35.6 million, compared with $34.4 million in the same quarter a year ago.

Officials of the Kansas City, Mo.-based company attributed a $4.9 million increase in non-interest income, mainly from its trust and securities businesses, to the higher earnings.

In Wichita, UMB operates two branches. Wichita also serves as the headquarters for its agribusiness division.
