Teagarden named CEO of Kansas Livestock Association

Matt Teagarden has been named CEO of the Kansas Livestock Association, replacing long-time CEO Dee Likes.

Teagarden, a member of the KLA staff since 2001, has served as a director of industry relations and information technology. He is the lead staff person on federal government relations, working to advance KLA objectives through the Kansas congressional delegation and federal agency contacts.

The KLA is the state’s main representative of the cattle and beef industries.

Teagarden grew up on a farm near LaCygne, Kan. and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in agricultural economics. He and his wife, Stephanie, have a grown daughter, Allie, and son-in-law Kale Monk.

Teagarden will take over Jan. 1 and is just the ninth executive director in KLA's 120-year history.

Likes will become chief executive emeritus and have an advisory role.
