Simmons First’s net income increases 27 percent in third quarter

The holding company of Simmons First National Bank said Thursday that its net income in the third quarter 2014 increased nearly $2 million from a year ago.

The Pine Bluff, Ark., company said earnings for the quarter ended Sept. 30 were $8.8 million, compared with $6.9 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The results include Simmons First National Corp.’s acquisition of Delta Trust & Bank, which the company said in a news release was completed at the end of August.

The $4.4 billion-asset company operates two Simmons First branches in Wichita.
