Wichita Aero Club moving its headquarters

The Wichita Aero Club is moving its headquarters to a new location near Crestview Country Club, according to a news release.

Beginning Aug. 24, the club will be located inside the building at 12828 E. 13th St. after leaving its longtime home on South Whittier Street. Following the relocation, the club’s office phone number will change to 316-641-5962, according to the release.

The club also announced that its luncheon scheduled for Sept. 21 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Airport Road will feature a presentation by Aerion vice chairman and longtime aviation industry executive Brian Barents. The luncheon, beginning at noon in the hotel’s Emerald Ballroom, will cost $30 for club members and $40 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and the public is welcome to attend, according to the release.

“Brian is a longtime resident of Wichita and a major player in the aviation community here,” said Dave Franson, the club’s president. “He’d draw a significant crowd just by talking about the many highlights of his career at Cessna and Learjet but I suspect this event will be well attended because it also happens to feature one of the industry’s most provocative topics – the supersonic business jet.”
