Wichita hospital garners national recognition as a top 15 health care provider
A prominent health care provider in Wichita was just recognized as one of the best health systems in the nation.
HCA Healthcare Continental Division, which includes Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, was named one of the top 15 health systems in the U.S. by health care improvement company Premier Inc., the hospital shared in a Friday morning press release. The recognition includes the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and HCA Healthcare hospitals in Colorado.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the culture of high-quality care that Wesley Healthcare continues to exhibit day in and day out,” CEO Bill Voloch said in the press release.
“Being recognized multiple times as a Top Health System is not possible without our extraordinary physicians, nurses and critical support staff members who dedicate themselves to protecting each patient who walks through the doors of our hospitals. Thank you for your hard work and dedication every day.”
Premier’s goal is to help provide solutions to health care supplier’s problems. This is the 17th year Premier has released its top 15 list, which uses a scorecard based on four factors: clinical outcomes, extended outcomes, operational and patient experience. Health systems are separated into three size groups (large, medium and small) for analysis.
Also included in the list this year were health systems based in Florida, Texas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Kentucky, Utah, Oklahoma and California.
“Achieving Premier’s 15 Top Health Systems designation is an honor and shows a health system’s commitment to improving enterprise operations, quality and patient-centered care,” Premier’s President of Performative Services David Zito said in the press release. “As one of the 15 Top Health Systems, HCA Healthcare Continental Division has achieved high-quality healthcare with the execution of innovative strategies that have directly impacted patient outcomes, with fewer readmissions and complications.”
“We are always pleased and proud when Wesley Healthcare receives recognition for the excellent work we do caring for our community. But recently, we have been honored with a series of awards that truly set us apart as a healthcare provider of distinction, both in Kansas and nationally,” Dave Stewart, Wesley Healthcare’s director of communications, wrote in an email to The Eagle.
Wesley Medical Center has also previously earned the patient safety excellence award, was included in the U.S. News and World Report best regional hospitals list and received 5-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the press release reads. Wesley Medical Center most recently earned a B grade in Leapfrog’s spring safety grades and got an A in fall 2024.
“We are also currently ranked as the #3 Top Teaching Hospital in the nation by PINC AI and recognized among America’s Top 100 Hospitals for the second consecutive year by Healthgrades – the number one website consumers use to search for doctors and hospitals,” Stewart stated.
