Last minute grocery trip on Memorial Day? 2 Wichita stores will be closed for holiday
Summer is almost here, and Memorial Day, which falls on Monday, May 26, is often seen as the kickoff of the season.
If you’re planning on either hosting your friends for a cookout or preparing food to take on your lake trip, be sure to make your shopping list ahead of time.
If you must hit the grocery store Monday, we rounded up a list of retailers in the Wichita area open for the holiday and their hours. Here’s where you can shop this Memorial Day weekend.
What stores are open, closed in Wichita this Memorial Day?
If you routinely shop at Natural Grocers and Costco, we have some bad news for you — they’re both closed May 26.
Thankfully, Wichitans still have options to shop if the need arises Monday.
Walmart is open its normal hours, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., on the holiday. Specific hours could vary by location, which you can see on Walmart’s website.
Target is also open normal hours Memorial Day, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for most stores. You can check Target’s website for specific store hours.
Dillons will be open its normal hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for most stores. Check your store for specific hours.
Trader Joe’s will stay open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, and so will Whole Foods, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All three of the Green Acres Market locations will all be open normal hours on the holiday — from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for its E. 21st St. and W. 21st St. locations, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for its E. Central Ave. store.
Aldi is open for reduced hours on Memorial Day and will close at 6 p.m.
Bulk retailer Sam’s Club will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club members Monday.
Oh, and if you need to mail and letter or package, plan accordingly. The U.S. Postal Service will be closed Monday, as well, in observance of Memorial Day.
