Area credit unions participating in giveaways of cash, gift cards
Six Wichita credit unions will give away $5,500 in gift cards and cash today as part of a semi-annual campaign organized by the Kansas Credit Union Association.
KCUA said in a news release the giveaways were scheduled at two area locations. The first happened Thursday morning at the QuikTrip at Kellogg and Maize, where credit union representatives handed out $25 QT gift cards to 100 people. The second was set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the QT at Kellogg and Hillside, where officials were planning to distribute $25 gift cards to 120 customers there.
The six local credit unions participating in the campaign are: Cessna Employees Credit Union, Credit Union of America, Medical Community Credit Union, Meritrust Credit Union, Mid American Credit Union and Wichita Federal Credit Union.
KCUA said 17 credit unions are participating in the semi-annual, statewide event, which was started in October 2012.
In past events, credit unions have given away gas cards and picked up people’s lunch tabs.
KCUA said the credit unions have more than $30,000 to give away on Thursday.
A KCUA official said the campaign coincides with International Credit Union Day, which is Oct. 16.
