Sedgwick County specifically has 28 job openings posted. Here’s a quick look at a few of those Wichita-area jobs that pay more than $45,000 a year. Salaries are dependent on experience and other factors.

Public health specialist/nurse

Agency: Department of Health & Environment

Pay: $50,000-$60,000 for a specialist; $63,502.40-$68,057.60 for a nurse

Job qualifications: Must have a bachelor’s degree in public health, nursing or human services and must have required certification and training for either the specialist or nurse position.

Job description: This position’s responsibilities include assisting local health departments, helping to create online training, conducting outreach to the community, collaborating with other health agencies, providing orientation for new administrators and more.

Legal attorney

Agency: Department for Children and Families

Pay: $70,000

Job qualifications: Must have a law degree and a certification of admission to the bar of the Kansas Supreme Court.

Job description: This position will litigate and represent the Department for Children and Families as well as providing legal advice, records review and more.

Adult protection specialist

Agency: Department for Children and Families

Pay: $47,025 non-licensed; $49,500 licensed

Job qualifications: Must have a bachelor’s in either a human service or behavioral sciences degree field. At least one year of case management experience is preferred.

Job description: This person will investigate cases of vulnerable adult abuse through reports. This position will respond to the cases and provide services to those in need.

Rehabilitation services counselor

Agency: Department for Children and Families

Pay: $47,257.60

Job requirements: Must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.

Job description: Provides support and services to people with disabilities who are searching for employment. This person will provide training, counseling and help with individuals’ job placement.
