Building, design outfits to host collaborative conference
A trio of Kansas design and construction organizations are collaborating to host a new builder-based conference in Wichita.
According to a news release, the American Institute of Architects Kansas, American Council of Engineering Companies of Kansas and Associated General Contractors of Kansas have partnered to put on the first Kan-Struct convention, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 16-18 at the Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center.
The convention is billed as an event that will bring together industry leaders, nationally known speakers, continuing education classes for licensing renewals and panel discussions about industry topics. Kan-Struct will serve to replace each of the annual conferences for all three organizations.
“We really hope this becomes the beginning of a new era of collaboration between our organizations,” said AGC Kansas executive director Mike Gibson in the release. “We encourage anyone from the industry, building owners, and even business owners who are planning to build to attend this event.”
Leaders from the three organizations had discussed the idea of an all-in-one convention/conference for more than a year before making the announcement this week, according to the release.
