Economic development effort to reveal progress at Friday meeting

The region’s latest major economic development effort will hold a session to update the public on its progress Friday morning.

The Blueprint for Regional Economic Growth will gather 9:30 a.m. to noon at Derby City Hall, 611 N. Mulberry, near Madison and Rock.

In the effort, people in the region’s most advanced industries have formed industry-wide groups to come up with solutions to common problems. For instance, the healthcare group has a plan to use tele-medicine to improve health care in rural Kansas, and the advanced materials group wants to create an innovation showcase to help spread knowledge throughout the 10-county region.
