Fed survey: manufacturing in region continues to fall in June

The monthly Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank survey shows that manufacturing activity in the district continues to fall in June, particularly in oil and gas producing areas, but at a slightly slower pace than May.

Durable goods manufacturing improved slightly, although still negative, particularly for aircraft products and parts. Some manufacturers also cited heavy rains early in the month as slowing production and the high value of the dollar as hurting demand for their products for export.

Producers’ expect some stabilization of demand in the months ahead and for orders to rise by the end of the year.

The Kansas City Federal Reserve District includes the western third of Missouri; all of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wyoming; and the northern half of New Mexico.
