Report: Amazon to close Coffeyville center
Amazon has told Montgomery County officials that it will close its distribution warehouse near Coffeyville in February.
The company took over the building in 1999 and the more than 750,000 square foot warehouse employed up to 500 workers.
Stacia Meek, executive director of the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce, said local officials are still trying to get details, including the number of employees afected.
“They indicated there were a number of reasons, but that they constantly evaluate their network fulfillment centers to ensure they are as close to their customers as possible,” she said.

Meek said workers were told Tuesday. The warehouse was one of the county’s largest employers.
“We just received word about this last evening and are just trying to figure out the impact,” she said. “But obviously there will be an impact.”

Amazon will close its distribution center in Coffeyville, according to a news report in the Tulsa World.
According to the Tulsa newspapers, Coffeyville officials were informed by Amazon officials Tuesday night that the fulfillment center, which employs hundreds of people, will be shut down in February.
The Coffeyville facility opened in 1999 and employed as many as 500 people at times.
