Wayne Reed, former president of Bennington Oil Co. in Minneapolis, Kan., was awarded the 2014 PMCA Distinguished Service Award by members of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas at the group’s annual convention earlier this month.

Textron Aviation funded and provided nearly 500 employee volunteers to build a Wichita Habitat for Humanity home in the 1200 block of North Poplar.

Verizon’s Hopeline awarded an $8,000 grant to support the Heartland Campus Safety Summit’s first Pre-Summit Bystander Intervention Education Workshop, which will fund a six-hour training session on intervening to prevent domestic violence for 100 ROTC cadets from Kansas and Missouri colleges and universities. The training will be held at Johnson County Community College.
