Wichita, Winfield firms selected to pitch their plans at area investor conference
Organizers of the area’s only venture capital conference announced Monday that 13 companies have been selected to present their business plans, including firms from Wichita and Winfield.
Great Plains Capital Conference said Wichita-based Ulterius Technologies and Winfield-based HyperBorean were selected to pitch their companies at the conference set for Sept. 25 at the Wichita Marriott.
Ulterius is a networking technology firm and HyperBorean is developing technology that will use waste heat to power refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
Officials from both firms will have 12 minutes each to present their business plan to an audience of angel investors and venture capitalists.
“This is really just an opportunity, a first introduction to people who could be future investors, strategic partners” in the companies selected to present, said Trish Brasted, president and CEO of Wichita Technology Corp., which organizes the conference.
Brasted said about 100 angel investors and venture capitalists typically attend the the conference, which is in its 11th year.
The day-long conference also includes a networking reception following company presentations, beginning at about 5 p.m. The reception also will serve as recruiting event for the Pipeline entrepreneurship grooming program. Brasted said leaders of technology based startups interested in becoming a Pipeline fellow can attend the reception for free by e-mailing info@pipelineentrepreneurs.com.
The other companies selected to present at this year’s conference include four other Kansas firms, four from Kansas City, Mo., two from the St. Louis area and one from Albuquerque, N.M.
The primary sponsors of GPCC, besides Wichita Technology Corp., are the Kansas Department of Commerce and 360 Ideas.
