Wichita sees 6.8 percent appreciation in annual home prices, according to real estate firm

Home prices in the Wichita area, as of March, rose 6.8 percent from a year earlier, according to CoreLogic, a national real estate analytics firm.

Excluding distressed sales, such as short sales, year-over-year prices in the Wichita area increased by 8.3 percent in March.

For Kansas as a whole, prices rose 8 percent from a year earlier, the third fastest growth rate in the nation. If the distressed sales are left out, Kansas home prices rose 9.5 percent, the highest state in the nation.
