Walmart to close Derby service center, affecting 104 jobs
Walmart will close a non-store operation in Derby later this year.
Company spokeswoman Delia Garcia said in an e-mail Wednesday afternoon it would close its service center for health and wellness receivables in Derby in August.
That center, at 327 Red Powell Dr., employs about 104 workers, Garcia said.
“We made the difficult decision as part of the company’s ongoing work to best align resources with our long-term plans,” Garcia said in the e-mail.
She said the company hopes the six-month notice will give workers ample time to find employment elsewhere or at other Walmart operations.
Walmart will offer those workers outplacement services including resume and interview training and counseling, Garcia said.
