New business
Building Controls and Services has been awarded a strategic energy and maintenance program contract from Derby schools to improve the district buildings’ energy use and cost savings.
Open house
Crave Beauty Academy, formerly Xenon International Academy, will hold a ribbon-cutting and open house starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday at its facility at 3804 W. Douglas.
ITC Great Plains, a subsidiary of independent electric transmission company ITC Holdings Corp., will mark the opening of its regional office in Wichita with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at 120 E. First St., Suite 290.
New location
Easygates, a Wichita-based franchisor and operator of Easyhome stores in the U.S., said a third Easyhome store opened this month in Indianapolis, bringing the total Easyhome store count to 51 in the country. Easyhome offers rent-to-own furniture, appliances and electronics.
New website
Overstockart.com has launched a redesigned website for its Artist Become (artistbe.com) online artist community. The website showcases original art from established and emerging artists.
Anniversary
Central Bank and Trust Co. marked its 100th anniversary this week. The Hutchinson-based bank operates two Wichita locations.
Charity
Cargill is donating $15,000 to the Arkansas River Trash Roundup, and Spirit AeroSystems is contributing $3,000 to the effort, which in 2015 is marking its 14th year. Both companies also will provide volunteers to organize and participate in the trash roundup, which is set to begin at 9 a.m. May 2.
