Riverfest officials seek donations to buy buttons for nonprofits

Riverfest officials are seeking businesses and individuals who want to share the fun of the popular spring event by buying extra buttons that can be donated to people who otherwise might not be able to attend.

Wichita Festivals’ Celebrations for a Cause campaign was reintroduced in 2013 to make Riverfest more inclusive, according to a news release from the nonprofit group.

In the past, such entities as the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Catholic Charities, Envision, the Kansas Humane Society and area churches have received buttons through the initiative.

Grene Vision Group and Meineke Car Care Centers were cited in the release as being lead donors for this year’s campaign for donated buttons.

In its 44th year, Riverfest will run from May 29 through June 6 in downtown Wichita. Riverfest admission buttons are available now for the early-bird price of $5 for adults at the Intrust Bank Arena box office and at the Wichita Festivals office, 444 E. William.

Information about the button donations can be found at wichitariverfest.com by rolling over the word “Partners” in the drag-down menu at the top of the page and then choosing “Celebrations for a Cause.” Or call 316-267-2817.
