Taco Lopez’s assets seized by state because of tax issues

State officials seized the business assets of Melquiadis Pinales Maciel, a Wichita business that had the restaurant called Taco Lopez, which the Department of Revenue said owed $60,442 in state sales and withholding taxes.

The restaurant at 795 N West St. was closed after the assets were seized, according to a news release from the state.

The assets of the restaurant are to be sold at auction, unless the business owner can make other arrangements with the state. According to state officials, seizure of a business and its assets occurs only after multiple other collection efforts are made.
