State seizes south-side Mexican restaurant for past-due sales taxes

A south-side restaurant called Burritos El Mexicano has been closed and its assets seized by the Kansas Department of Revenue, according to a news release from the agency.

According to the release, the restaurant, located at 1712 E. 47th St. South, owed sales tax amounting to $53,289.

The assets are to be sold at auction, unless the business owner can make other arrangements with the state. According to state officials, seizure of a business and its assets occurs after multiple other collection efforts are made.
