2 WSU business-related centers are trading places

Two Wichita State University centers will nearly switch places this month.

The Center for Economic Development and Business Research, which does economic research and analysis, is moving across campus from its longtime place in Devlin Hall to the National Institute for Aviation Research.

WSU Ventures, now housed at NIAR, will move to CEDBR’s current space. WSU Ventures handles the technology transfer, expanding industry partnerships and commercializing WSU innovations.

The switch is being made to put WSU Ventures next to the Center for Entrepreneurship on the second floor of Devlin Hall, said WSU Ventures Director Cindy Claycomb. She said the two groups work so closely together that the move will help them function more effectively.

CEDBR will move April 14 and 15, said center director Jeremy Hill, and WSU Ventures will move the April 22.

CEDBR is one of the WSU centers that is scheduled to move in 2017 to space in Old Town now occupied by Airbus. Claycomb said WSU Ventures may move to the soon-to-break-ground Experiential Engineering building in a few years.
