Kansas personal income growth among nation’s worst

Personal income growth in Kansas ranked 46th in the country in the first quarter, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

It grew just 0.6 percent in the quarter, weighed down by a $684 million drop in farm income.

Other Great Plains states saw similar impacts from farming drops. Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota were all among the nation’s worst performers.

Personal income includes wages and benefits, interest and dividends and government payments such as Social Security and unemployment insurance.
