Grand opening

Wichita Animal Action League will host a grand opening of its Pet Adoption Center at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Towne West Square, 4600 W. Kellogg.

New franchisees

Mark and Luke Elpers have opened Steri-Clean Kansas, Steri-Clean’s first Kansas franchise. The business provides cleaning of crime and trauma scenes, hoarding homes and areas compromised by infectious diseases. The new franchise will host a grand opening event and a meet-and-greet with Steri-Clean founder Cory Chalmers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6 at Distillery 244, 244 N. Mosley. Wichita-based the Mattress Hub was named 2017 Retail Giant of Bedding at the Furniture Today Bedding Conference in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Charity

A Rotary Club of East Wichita Kentucky Derby fundraiser raised $10,500 to be distributed to Emberhope, Heartspring and Starkey.

Assistance League of Wichita awarded more than $100,000 in one-year scholarships to graduating high school seniors to attend Wichita Area Technical College or Butler Community College.

The Burger King McLamore Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Burger King brand, awarded Tiffany Bass of Hutchinson a $5,000 scholarship through the 2017 Burger King Scholars Regional Employee Award program.
