Average local wage growth remains weak

The average weekly wage in Sedgwick County was $825 in the third quarter of 2014, the most recent data available, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Wage growth for the year between the third quarters of 2013 and 2014 was 1.4 percent, placing the county 286 out of the nation’s 340 most populous counties.

The average wage is calculated by dividing all wages by all workers. The number of workers in Sedgwick County also rose, by 1.2 percent, to 245,500, according to the bureau.
