Featured business person: Justin Dugan

Justin Dugan, Associate, K-Coe Isom

For Dugan, a recent college graduate, working as an accountant during tax season might seem like finals week – only it goes on a lot longer.

“Right now we’re in tax season; we’re working some pretty big hours,” Dugan said, estimating that he’s averaging 55 to 60 hours a week.

Dugan, 22, grew up in Clearwater, where his family has a farm. He went to Bishop Carroll High School and Wichita State University, earning an accounting degree from WSU in December. He was president and treasurer of his fraternity and a delegate to the Interfraternity Council.

As a new employee, Dugan said the firm is giving him experience in a lot of different areas.

“They want people to really do what they want to do.”

K-Coe Isom has 17 offices in six states. Its biggest client base is the food and agriculture industry. Dugan said his background should allow him to eventually work with farmers like his father. He knows how to manage cattle and operate farm equipment and worked as an assistant farm manager for Clearwater Genetics.

“I hope to get a little more of the ag stuff just because of my background,” he said. “I understand those clients and some of those issues and the language.”

Off the job, Dugan enjoys tennis, reading and spending time with family and friends.
