One applicant drops its southeast Kansas casino bid

One of the four applicants vying to build a casino in southeast Kansas has dropped its bid.

SE Kansas Casino Partners notified the Kansas Lottery that it was withdrawing its application for the rights to operate a casino in southeast Kansas, according to a news release from the Lottery.

In a letter to the Kansas Lottery dated March 5, William F. Killian, representing SE Kansas Casino Partners, stated: “Due to the remaining time available and the results of our ongoing due diligence, SE Kansas Partners, LLC is unable to move forward in the application process.”

The three remaining applicants are Kansas Crossing Casino & Hotel; Emerald City Casino & Resort; and Castle Rock Casino Resort.

The Lottery expects to complete its review of the applications by April 30. It will then forward its findings to a gaming review board, which has 60 days to select a winning applicant.
