New franchisee
MM Heating & Cooling is now an Aire Serv franchisee and has changed its name to Aire Serv of North Wichita. The nearly 20-year-old company at 1502 E. Harry is owned by John Hislop. It can be reached at 316-768-3000.
Oakwood Worldwide, a provider of corporate housing and serviced apartments, has signed Suite Options as its second Oakwood brand franchisee. Under the agreement, Wichita-based Suite Options will now exclusively manage the Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska markets for Oakwood Worldwide under the Oakwood and ExecuStay brands.
New service
AT&T has launched its fourth-generation, or 4G, wireless service in Hutchinson.
Insights Career Consulting, 200 N. Broadway, will launch a new career networking platform to employees and employers in September called KNOXX. The new service will include Web-based photo and video capabilities. More information is available at justknockit.com.
Charity
Spirit AeroSystems employees’ Good Neighbor Fund donated $20,000 to Make-A-Wish Kansas. The fund also made a $4,000 donation to the USO in Fort Riley.
Eric Fisher Academy, 6727 W. Central, will host its annual Cut for a Cause Haircut-a-thon from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The academy’s students will offer a shampoo, cut and blow dry for $10; a brow sculpt for $5; and a lip wax for $5. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Diabetes Association. The services can be scheduled by calling 316-440-5555, ext. 1, and mentioning Cut for a Cause.
Edward Jones will cover the cost for Kansas State University to offer a credit course that prepares students to take the Series 7 exam, the general securities licensing exam required by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. The St. Louis-based firm said the $5,000 it is providing will cover the cost of materials and training of faculty who will be teaching the course.
