Airbnb sees near tripling of rentals in Kansas
Airbnb said in a release that Wichita residents earned $281,000 from 2,900 guests this year by renting out rooms or their whole home through the online rental platform.
Statewide, the company said, hosts earned $2.1 million hosting 20,000 people to the state in 2016. That’s a near tripling of activity from 2015.
The number of Airbnb’s hosts in Kansas doubled to 600 people in 2016, with about 50 percent of hosts simply renting out an extra room. The fastest growing demographic nationally among Airbnb hosts are senior women, the company said.
