Westar completes transmission line in northern Kansas
Westar Energy on Wednesday energized a 60-mile-long high-voltage transmission line recently completed between Salina and Concordia.
The company, which built the southern 30 miles of the line, wanted to bolster the grid’s capacity to carry power generated by wind farms in the area and to improve grid reliability.
The $54.5 million project came in $13.7 million under budget.
