Clark County rancher to head Kansas Livestock Association

David Clawson, a fourth-generation rancher and farmer from Clark County, was elected president of the Kansas Livestock Association at the group’s annual convention in Wichita this week.

Lee Reeve of Finney County was named president elect.

Clawson is part owner with his brother, Dan, of Clawson Ranch Partnership, a cow-calf business and an irrigated and dryland crop farming operation in Kansas and the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas. He is also part owner of High Plains Dairy at Plains and a partner in Plains State Bank.

Clawson serves on the KLA Executive Committee and the KLA and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association boards of directors. He is a member of the NCBA Tax & Credit Committee. Clawson is a past chairman of both the KLA Dairy Council and KLA Stockgrowers Council.

The KLA is a 5,300-member organization representing the state’s livestock business on legislative, regulatory and industry issues at both the state and federal levels.
