Local workforce group gets millions for free education
The Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas has been awarded a nearly $6 million four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The grant, for the Kansas Advanced Manufacturing Program, will pay for free training for aviation and advanced-manufacturing students. It’s intended to move low-wage and underemployed workers to high-paying manufacturing careers.
The 10-county south-central Kansas region is one of 23 regional partnerships across the United States to receive $111 million and connect 21,000 students to education and in-demand jobs.
