Spirit AeroSystems will present a $30,000 grant to the Wichita Area Technical College Foundation for student scholarships in the Wichita Promise programs.

Wichita Promise was created in April to provide free tuition to students in a high-tech, high-wage career pathway and a guaranteed interview with one of WATC’s business and industry partners.

“Spirit greatly benefits by the WATC’s specific industry training, which is core to our manufacturing needs,” Justin Welner, Spirit AeroSystems vice president of human resources, said in a statement. “We have a strong demand for employees technically trained and skilled in aerospace assembly and composites. We see this scholarship program as a means to building a pipeline for future employees.”
