Hutchinson Siemens plant to resume operations after West Coast labor dispute settled

The Siemens wind turbine nacelle assembly plant in Hutchinson expects to resume full operations within the next week, according to a company spokesman.

The company had furloughed about 60 workers last week because some of the parts needed to make wind turbines were delayed at docks along the West Coast.

The delays were part of a labor dispute that has slowed – and sometimes stopped – work at nearly 30 ports along the West Coast.

Negotiators for unions and companies that manage the ports say they have reached a tentative deal, which union members still need to approve.

The Siemens plant employs about 360 when fully staffed.
