Local low-power TV station for sale
Ron and Sheryl Nutt, owners of low-power KCTU, Channel 43, want to sell the station, which they built and have owned for nearly 20 years.
The station, located across from East High School, broadcasts six over-the-air channels in the Wichita area. It also has MGM’s ThisTV, on AT&T U-Verse.
The Nutts said several groups have expressed interest in the station. They have set July 22 as the deadline to receive proposals.
The Nutts say they’re selling due to health issues.
According to Nutts, KCTU-TV has been nominated for two Heartland Emmy Awards, and was the first commercial television station to broadcast 24 hours, seven days a week on the Internet. It was the pool television station for President Bill Clinton’s 1997 visit to Wichita.
