Market little changed at midday Friday

NEW YORK —The U.S. stock market is little changed at midday as investors monitor the tough debt negotiations between Greece and its European creditors.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index edged down three points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,095 as of 11:50 a.m. Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average eked out a gain of seven points, a rise of less than 1 percent, to 17,993. The Nasdaq edged up one point, or 0.03 percent, to 4,926.

Greece is trying to persuade its European creditors to accept a six-month loan extension, allowing the country to pay its bills and skirt a possible exit from the euro.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury note dipped to 2.06 percent from 2.12 percent late Thursday. Bonds yields fall as their prices rise.
